The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has updated its Planning Practice Guidance (PPG) on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) exemptions which came into force for planning applications made from 6 August. The new exemptions are aimed to help reduce the burdens on the smallest developers and local authorities and focus resources on larger developments, which have the potential to deliver the greatest benefits to nature.
