Description

National Quality Mark Scheme for Land Contamination Management (NQMS) – getting it right first time Time: 12.30 - 1.30pm, call will start at 12.15 for a prompt start at 12.30. Below ground uncertainties represent the single largest financial risk on most redevelopment sites. Projects with a good quality ground investigation, considering the ground related chemical and geotechnical constraints, usually progress through the planning regime with fewer delays and fewer requests for additional information. There are also usually fewer surprises to manage when construction works start. Good ground investigations save money and save time. As developers it’s important that you have confidence that you are commissioning experienced and competent geo-environmental consultancies and the reports they produce follow good practice and current guidance. Competent does not mean most expensive, it means ensuring the investigation and reporting are right first time. The NQMS was designed to provide this reassurance and can support developers operate as ‘informed’ clients; by placing the onus back on consultancies during commissioning to demonstrate they are committed to and follow a recognised standard. In this session, Liz Hart will provide an introduction to, and update on, the NQMS and the Suitable Qualified Person (SQP) role and will flag key questions you should be asking of your geotechnical and geoenvironmental advisors to ensure you are getting the best support. 💡 Key Topics: 1. What is the NQMS and who is it for? 2. What’s included in the NQMS declaration ? 3. How to ensure competence of geoenvironmental advisors? 4. Being an informed client when commissioning land quality reports. 5. How a SQP can help to avoid over-conservatism, unnecessary costs and programme delays. 6. Open Q&A session ________________________________________________________________________________ Microsoft Teams Need help?
