The European Commission is reviewing and updating the existing Union Implementation Plan (UIP), based on the analysis of literature and information submitted by the Member State Competent Authorities (MSCA) on for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
The UIP aims to present the best knowledge of existing policy and scientific landscape for POPs in Europe and the activities to control and manage the release of these substances to the natural environment.
It is a public document detailing the EU’s commitments under the UNEP Stockholm Convention (an international treaty which aims to eliminate or restrict the production and use of POPs), to help manage and control the issues posed by POPs.
The European Union is inviting review and comment from the general public and experts in the field of POPs on a draft version of the updated UIP, via two questionnaires. If you would like to contribute to this review, the consultation is available until Monday November 11th 2019.
