The organisers couldn’t be prouder with the result of the long-awaited 2021 edition of The Contamination & Geotech Expo. They would like to thank those of you who came to support the event. The UK’s largest event for contamination, geotechnical and environmental professionals took place on 22-23 September at the NEC, Birmingham, connecting the industry once again after a challenging 18+ months. Alongside this, the contamination, geotechnical and environmental industries already find themselves in an ever-changing environment, from government legislation to new projects and the increasing threat of climate change.
It was clear that the industry was revelling in the opportunity to reconnect and meet face-to-face once again to connect with industry peers and prospective business connections. The exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, partners, and of course the attendees at The Contamination & Geotech Expo are vital for the industry's continued development through innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing – making it the most important 2 days in the calendar for contamination, geotechnical and environmental professionals.
Covering all aspects of land, water, and air contamination, insight and learning were high on the agenda with the 7 specialised zones and a seminar programme full of expert led CPD accredited sessions, panels, and demonstrations. Incredible keynote seminars from the likes of asbestos experts Yvonne Waterman and Stephen Sadley who discussed “The global asbestos disaster: new understanding of the social and economic toll of asbestos on society” and “The Role of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association.” The latest scientific knowledge from experts such as Paul Nathanail who discussed “PFAS risk assessment in a rapidly changing regulatory science context.” As well as land development expertise from Ben de Waal who explained “Incentives for Brownfield Development and Innovation”.
The show zones included Hazardous Materials, Land Remediation, Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental, Clean Air Technology, Spill Response, Wastewater, and Nuclear Decommissioning and Remediation. By combining 7 areas from across the contamination and geotechnical industry, The Contamination & Geotech Expo proved a comprehensive event that truly positioned itself in the centre of the environmental sector.
