The European Environment Agency (EEA) reports that European soils are under increasing pressure and comprehensive monitoring to assess soil health is lacking. The report presents a core set of soil indicators and critical limits for soil health with a chapter dedicated to soil pollution and addresses the issues of indicators, thresholds and soil screening values.
