The Draft for Public Comment (DPC) of a revised version of BS 10175 - Investigation of potentially contaminated sites – Code of practice, was published by BSI on 16 September 2024.

BS 10175 is the keystone standard for investigation and assessment of sites where potentially harmful substances might be present either due to human activities (contamination) or natural processes. Its proper application is important for compliance with various regulatory provisions and planning guidance across all parts of the United Kingdom. The revised version is not radically different from the current version, but it is a thorough revision with small technical changes throughout, and some new material introduced (for example on sustainability, on-site methods of chemical analysis and testing, and leaching tests).

There is a two-month comment period on the DPC ending on 16 November 2024. It is possible to comment on-line using BSI’s Standard Development System or using a comment template.
