Qualified Persons (QP) are reminded that QP Renewals will be open from Monday, 2 December 2024.

The following 2025 QP renewal checklist will ensure you are up to date and able to renew.

Chartership

Please ensure your Chartership status is active and up to date with your Professional Institution; you will be asked to provide evidence of this (i.e. payment receipt) at the renewal stage.

Continuing professional development (CPD) requirements

Please make sure that your annual QP CPD relevant to the DoW CoP is up to date. As a reminder, this log must reflect a minimum of 30 hours spent in 2024 on the planning, management, regulation or oversight of DoW CoP. This can include work on remediation or other projects involving materials management, providing advice on application of the DoW CoP, preparing MMPs for clients, assessing MMPs and providing Declarations as a QP.
It is important that QPs stay current with DoW CoP developments. CPD should also include reading new FAQs and relevant waste or planning regulation updates, i.e., the Regulatory Position Statement on topsoil, utility waste, National Planning Policy Framework, etc. CPD can also include time spent on relevant network groups, soil forums, providing support for the DoW CoP development and promoting its use across development industries.

QPs can either log their individual CPD records or upload a full CPD statement for 2024 that has been exported from elsewhere via the CPD panel on your Dashboard.

Note: If a QP decides to renew before 1 January 2025, the requirement of a minimum of 30 hours still needs to be met.

Fees

QP Registration fees for 2025 are £150 for the private sector and £105 for the public sector.

The payment must be made within 28 days after the Renewal form is submitted to CL:AIRE.

Late payment might result in the temporary suspension of the QP status.

Timings

The 2025 renewal window will be between 1 December 2024 and 31 January 2025.

The QP Register will be reset on 1 February 2025.

Late renewal

QPs who have not completed the renewals process and / or did not pay their registration fees within 28 days by 31 January,  will have their status suspended. This will result in:

  • removal from the Online register and
  • becoming inactive on the Portal.

If, for whatever reason, the deadline is missed please be assured that CL:AIRE accepts late renewals. QPs who wish to renew at a later date, will be charged the full annual amount. Please allow up to 48 hours to be re-activated on the Online register and in the Portal.

QP Assessment and QP Professional Report

Please note that if a QP did not pass the QP Assessment  / submit the Professional Report in 2024, the QP will be required to do so before being reinstated.

QP Audit

10% of active QPs will be randomly selected for audit of their renewal.

The QP audit will consider the following:

  • if CPD was uploaded by the deadline;
  • whether the CPD log meets the requirement of a minimum of 30 hours;
  • if the CPD logged is relevant to the application of DoW CoP;
  • if there is evidence that the QP chartership status is up to date.

Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in the temporary suspension of the QP status.
